Therapist of Movement Optimization & Performance
What is mobility and why is it important?
Mobility is the right compromise between muscular & joint flexibility, strength and neurocontrol.
Naturally, your Range of Motion (ROM) will never increase if you have limitations in the soft tissue, muscle length or flexibility.
Moreover, ROM is dependent on articular (joint mobility and stability), so for the best results you need to get rid of any joint restriction without creating any instability.
For that you need to ensure proper neurocontrol to be able to keep controlling and letting go in an extreme range of motion.
Passive or Active exercises are both needed, but it is crucial that you determine what your personal strategy is.

Mobility training
When you stumble upon an exercise that works on your flexibility AND your strength at the same time…You’ve found the Holy Grail of movement.
What we’ll be doing here is what’s called strength within range of motion. Or more commonly – “mobility”.
Why do mobility exercises work? Simply because you do not just passively stretch a muscle, but you strenghten it, since the muscle fiber is the longest and, therefore, often the weakest. That’s where true mobility is built.
Passive stretching feels good in the moment. But if you want it to make a lasting difference, you have to reach the limits of the range of motion and generate strength there. Otherwise, you’re just moving. That’s fine. But it’s not the same.
There are plenty of mobility exercises, some are more relevant and designed for runners and CrossFitters, ice hockey players or others, who need the mobility that can be sustained under load.
Even if I love Yoga and regularly practice it to keep my muscle ability to lenghten, it is just not enough.
You will never become mobile, strong and agile if you only reduce your mobility routine to random stretching at end of your main sport practice.
Do not overtrain either! Your mobility strategy should not take more than your main sport practice. The choice of exercises and strategy of sequencing them is CRITICAL.

Yoga Class
In the Bhagavad Gita, Yoga fundamentally means “connecting your Atman with Paramatman” (linking the individual soul with supreme). So well beyond being only a physical posture approach, it is a practical, holistic system of spiritual discipline, self-realization, and liberation.
That is the reason why there currently exist so many different Yoga styles.
It is important for you to know that I teach Postural Yoga (Astahnga, Vinyasa & Yin).
Being a Manual therapist and a Mobilty performance specialist, teaching yoga was an obvious choice as it is just the perfect complement to my practice of healing and movement.
During a Yoga class we work on postures – that’s the most visible aspect.
But above all, we develop a deep understanding of how our bodies function.
We learn to move with intention. To breathe consciously. To observe our internal state. We work on the nervous system. We work on body and mind coordination, on body awareness.
It’s holistic. Coherent. It’s a comprehensive approach to explore what your body is capable of… and you will be probabby surprised yourself!
